URBANA — The city of Urbana is inviting community members to a meeting Tuesday at the Vineyard Church of Central Illinois to discuss potential road improvements along North Lincoln Avenue.
Earlier this spring, the city temporarily piloted a new design for a stretch of North Lincoln between King Park and I-74. The new design removed one vehicle lane in each direction and used the extra space to add a center turning lane and painted bike lanes.
The city took feedback before restriping the corridor back to its old design, as required under the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets for All grant used to test out the changes.
The city said it is planning more long-term improvements for the same part of North Lincoln Avenue. City staff will be available to answer questions, present maps for the project, and gather public input.
The meeting is set for Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Vineyard Church of Central Illinois at 1500 N Lincoln Ave., Urbana, IL, 61801.
