SPRINGFIELD — Hundreds of Illinois cities are eligible to apply for federal relief from the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s administration says. Local government officials have until Dec. 1 to to submit applications.
Local CURE funds were approved in the congressional relief package last spring. Public health and public safety spending, COVID-19 testing and contact tracing and emergency medical expenses between March 1 and Dec. 30 are all eligible for federal relief.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity said it had begun the process with 1,400 eligible governments but many hadn’t finished the required steps, according to the Associated Press.
Local governments have received or will receive a total of $112 million thus far, DCEO said, but over 400 government bodies are eligible and haven’t completed applications.
Below are local governments in the WILL coverage area that are eligible but still need to submit certifications by today’s deadline.
