Jackson will still lie in repose next week at the Chicago headquarters of his Rainbow PUSH Coalition with a public celebration of life and homegoing services to follow, though dates for Chicago events have been changed.

Jackson’s family says he will lie in state at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

According to the Jackson family, public commemorations will take place in Chicago. Officials and organizations from Illinois are paying tribute and remembering Jackson.

Rep. Robin Kelly (D) is the current officeholder in the 2nd congressional district. She is not seeking re-election as she is running to be a US Senator.

The civil rights leader was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over a decade ago.

Haynes is the pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church. He was formally installed as president and CEO of Rainbow PUSH in February.

Jackson is 81 and has remained active in civil rights in recent years despite health setbacks.
