URBANA – Due to forecasted high temperatures on Friday, August 25, some central Illinois schools will be closed. The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued an Extreme Heat Warning. Combined heat and humidity will make it feel like 110-115 degrees. Here are the August 25 school closures or advisories:
- All schools will be closed on Friday, August 25.
- Centennial High School and Edison Middle School will not have classes because the cooling systems are not working. Other schools in Unit 4 will be open.
- Additionally, all yellow school bus services are canceled Friday, August 25.
- The Central versus Normal West varsity football game scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. has been rescheduled for 8:00 p.m.
- All schools in the district will be open on Friday, August 25.
- Parents are encouraged to send a refillable water bottle to school with their students.
- The district will offer water to student who ride yellow school buses after school.
- Parents are encouraged to pick their children up from school if they usually walk home or ride the yellow school bus home.
