URBANA – The National Weather Service confirms an E-F-1 tornado crossed 12 miles of land in Champaign County on Sunday afternoon.
Meteorologists say the storm started in southwest Champaign County near the intersection of County Rd 100 N and County Rd 200 E. It ended south of the University of Illinois Willard Airport near US 45. The Weather Service said the tornado traveled at a rate of 60 miles per hour.
The storm with 90 mile per hour winds, blew out the walls of an Illinois Foundation Seeds building.
No one was hurt. Wind damage was reported in several locations south and east of Urbana and throughout Vermilion County.

URBANA – Severe storms caused damage in Champaign, Coles and Vermilion Counties Sunday afternoon. No major injuries are reported.
The out building of Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. in Tolono collapsed. According to its website, the organization researches and develops products for the seed industry.

Keith Hoveln came home to a huge tree in his front yard in the Champaign County community of Sidney. His family was away when the storm came through.
“Half our tree is down, our magnolia tree is down, so we’re just trying to clean up from it,” said Hovelin. “In our backyard, we lost our trampoline and our play set are both trashed.”

Emergency managers in Vermilion County reported trees also fell on structures in Danville. And power poles were snapped in half west of Charleston.
Illinois State Police closed parts of I-57 for a time because of multiple crashes.
