URBANA – The Champaign County Clerk said it is suspending early voting on Friday, October 1.

According to an email sent to IPM on Friday morning from Angie Patton, Chief of Staff of the Champaign County Elections office, the suspension is due to a technical issue involving early voting that was discovered on Thursday evening.

The email said that voting will resume as normal on Monday, October 5.

No other details were made available.

The only site affected is the Bennett Administrative Center in Urbana, where early voting started on September 24.  Early voting will expand to 11 sites on October 19.

The general election is November 3.
