URBANA — The body of the person found on the University of Illinois campus Monday morning has been identified.
University police said in a statement that the deceased person was Alex C. Rodriguez, 29 and that he was not affiliated with the University of Illinois.
After officers arrived on the scene, they found Rodriguez on a bench near the Alma Mater statue. The Champaign County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene, where Rodriguez was pronounced dead, according to police.
Preliminary investigations indicated “no signs of foul play” and an autopsy has been scheduled. Police also said there is no evidence of an ongoing threat to the campus community at this time.
