Multiple polling places in Champaign County will be closed for Primary Election Day

The Champaign County Clerk's office said more than a dozen voting locations will be closed on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 due to a shortage of election judges.

Several polling places in Champaign County will be closed on Election Day next Tuesday, March 17 due to a shortage of of election judges.

Champaign County Clerk Aaron Ammons’ office said in a news release 15 polling locations will be unavailable for those hoping to vote in the primary in-person next Tuesday.

The list includes the following locations:

  • University of Illinois Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), 201 E Peabody Dr, Champaign
  • Bible Baptist Church, 4001 W Kirby Ave, Champaign

  • Royal Community Building, 103 S Park St, Royal

  • Bresnan Meeting Center, 706 Kenwood Rd, Champaign

  • Free Methodist Church, 1913 S Mattis Ave, Champaign

  • Life Vineyard Church, 702 Turkey Farms Rd, Mahomet

  • Living Word Family Church, 1000 Park Ave, St. Joseph

  • Douglass Center Annex, 804 N Fifth St, Champaign

  • East Bend Township Building, 9 Main St, Dewey

  • Stanton Township Building, 2103 County Rd 2100 E, Stanton

  • Hensley Town Hall, 3001 W Hensley Rd, Champaign

  • Hessel PK Christian Reformed Church, 700 W Kirby Ave, Champaign

  • Hays Center, 1311 W Church St, Champaign

  • Ludlow Township Office, 133 W Thomas St, Ludlow

  • Philo Road Church of Christ, 2601 S Philo Rd, Urbana

“As a reminder, each early voting location and Election Day polling location is a universal voting site. Meaning, any eligible voter can vote at any polling location regardless of where their home precinct is,” the Champaign County Clerk’s office said in a statement.

Early voting is available at multiple sites across the county. The county also has also drop boxes where voters can submit a mail-in-ballot.

Illinois’ March 17 primary election includes Democratic and Republican primaries for several statewide offices, such as Governor, Attorney General and U.S. Senate. Voters also have the opportunity to weigh in for multiple U.S. House seats as well as the race for Champaign County Executive.
