The spring semester is coming to an end at the University of Illinois. That means residents can expect to see reduced summer bus service from the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District.
Starting Saturday, there will be reduced frequencies on bus routes around town, according to an announcement from the MTD. Some routes, such as 1 Yellow Hopper, will not operate over the summer, and multiple late-night services will also run less often.
SafeRides Connect service will also not operate during the university’s summer break.
The MTD said there will be no service on Memorial Day or on Independence Day.
The transit agency said normal bus service will resume in August before the 2026 fall semester begins at U of I.
