The Minutes

     Details: A new comedy by Tracy Letts about small-town politics and power struggles in the fictional town of Big Cherry.

A Visual Journey of Family – Book of Life Scrapbook-Making Workshop

     Details: A free workshop inspired by the PBS series Finding Your Roots. Learn how to create your own “Book of Life” and research your genealogy.

CU Jazz Fest: Latin American Jazz Ensemble

     Location: Urbana Free Library
     Details: A University of Illinois ensemble performing music from Latin American regions including North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean.

Sammy & The Coaltrain
     Time: 7 p.m.
     Location: Huber’s, Champaign
     Details: A “small town country band with big city attitude” boiled down to a four-piece act.

Sweeney Todd
     Time: 7:30 p.m.
     Location: Hoogland Center for the Arts, Springfield
     Details: Stephen Sondheim’s classic Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Runs Fridays to Sundays from October 25-27 and November 1-3.
A signed performance will be available on November 3 for individuals who are hard of hearing.


Saturday, October 26

Halloween Puppy Parade
     Time: 10-11 a.m.
     Location: Hessel Park, Champaign
     Details: Dress up your pups in spooky or fun costumes for a chance to win prizes. Treats for both humans and puppies! Free and open to the public.

Book or Treat
     Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
     Location: Mahomet Public Library
     Details: Come in costume to receive a book and a treat! Craft stations will be available for fun activities. No registration required.

Acatoberfest
     Time: 7 p.m.
     Location: Foellinger Auditorium, Urbana
     Details: All nine UIUC a cappella groups perform their unique arrangements under one roof for a night of harmony and fun.

Moonlight Movie: Casper (1995)
     Time: 7:30-9 p.m.
     Location: Middle Fork Forest Preserve
     Details: Bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy an outdoor screening of Casper. A perfect family movie for the Halloween season.


Sunday, October 27

Spurlock Sunday: El Dia de los Muertos
     Time: 1-3 p.m.
     Location: Spurlock Museum, Urbana
     Details: Learn about the Day of the Dead through crafts, sugar skulls (calaveras), marigolds (cempazúchitl), and explore the ofrendas (offerings on the family altar).

An Evening with Poe
     Time: 7 p.m.
     Location: The Station Theatre, Urbana
     Details: Actors perform readings of classic Edgar Allan Poe stories. Collaborated with Allerton Park and Retreat Center. Tickets are still available for the night at The Station Theatre.
