  • Event: CU Folk and Roots Festival

  • Event: Working in the Service of Poetry

    • Additional Info: Theresa Caputo, TV’s favorite medium, will share personal stories about her life and explain how her gift works.
  • Event: Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin

    • Date & Time: Saturday, the 14th, 7:30 p.m.
    • Location: Krannert in Urbana
    • Additional Info: Carpenter and Colvin are both GRAMMY Award winning musical artists.
  • Event: Kristy Deetz: Threads, Folds & Rabbit Holes Exhibition
    • Date & Time: Thursday, the 12th, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • Location: Giertz Gallery at Parkland College in Champaign
    • Additional Info: This solo exhibition includes works from the artist’s series “Holidays Unfolding” and “Through the Veil.” Features live music and Gallery Talk at 6:15 pm by Kristy Deetz.

Urbana Mayor Marlin confirms she won’t seek third term

Democrat Diane Marlin is confirming what she has been talking about for more than a year: she’ll step down as Urbana mayor when her current term ends next spring.

“After 8 years on City Council and 8 years as mayor, 16 in city government, is a good long run,” Marlin said in an interview with Illinois Public Media.
