Thursday, November 7

26th Annual Salute to the Veterans Concert
     Time: 6 p.m.
     Location: Danville High School
     Details: Celebrate Veterans with performances from DHS Music Department’s band, choir, and orchestra. Each branch of the Armed Forces will be honored, and the Stars and Stripes march will close the event. Free and open to the public.

Krannert Center Uncorked: An Evening of Broadway
     Time: 5 p.m.
     Location: Stage 5, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Urbana
     Details: Enjoy a Broadway evening as Ranae Wilson and local performers, accompanied by Tommy Howie on the piano, bring favorite show tunes to life in the Krannert lobby. Free entry.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra
     Time: 7:30 p.m.
     Location: Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Urbana
     Details: Maestro Riccardo Muti leads a program inspired by the landscapes of southern Spain, with works by Falla, Chabrier, and Donizetti. World premiere of Golijov’s Megalopolis Suite, from the score of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis.


Friday, November 8

Season of Light
     Time: 8-9 p.m.
     Location: William M. Staerkel Planetarium, Parkland College
     Details: A dazzling show tracing December holiday customs across cultures, spotlighting traditions that light up the winter season.

9 to 5 The Musical
     Time: 7:30 p.m.
     Location: Lincoln Hall, Urbana
     Details: Illini Student Musicals present Dolly Parton’s hit musical, a hilarious tale of friendship and workplace revenge set in the 1970s Rolodex era. Also showing on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.


Saturday, November 9

Downtown Danville Lighting Ceremony
     Time: 5-6 p.m.
     Location: Temple Plaza, Danville
     Details: Celebrate the lighting of downtown Danville with free hot chocolate and a visit from Santa. Festive cheer for the whole family!

Michael Feinstein: Because of You
     Time: 7:30 p.m.
     Location: Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Urbana
     Details: Feinstein pays tribute to Tony Bennett with the Carnegie Hall Big Band. An elegant evening filled with classics. 


Sunday, November 10

Sibshops Workshop

     Location: Stephens Family YMCA, Champaign
     Details: A supportive, interactive workshop for children who have siblings with disabilities. Pre-registration is required, available on the YMCA website.

150th Anniversary Read-A-Thon
     Time: 2-4 p.m.
     Location: Urbana Free Library
    Details: Celebrate the joy of reading aloud with family-friendly passages, along with book-themed crafts for all ages. Let’s keep the reading tradition going!
