VATICAN CITY– Pope Francis was laid to rest in Vatican City Saturday with a crowd of more than 200,000 present. The 88-year-old pontiff died Monday after having a stroke.
Pope Francis leaves behind a legacy of both admiration and criticism as he was known for advocating for refugees and migrants, using softer rhetoric towards the LGBTQ community compared to past popes, drawing attention to environmental issues, and in his last days calling an end to the war in Gaza, which has left more than 50,000 people dead.
