Urbana teachers will see five percent raises in their next paychecks.

Teachers in Urbana are getting a raise.

A majority of Urbana Education Association members voted for the new contract Wednesday evening, and the District 116 School Board approved it on Thursday.

School Board President Paul Poulosky said the contract includes annual 5% raises.

“Which we’re proud of. We’re trying to keep competitive with neighboring districts,” Poulosky said.

The contract’s official start date was Wednesday, and Poulosky said the new contract lasts three years.

He said the contract also includes teacher stipends so the district can increase staff supervision before and after school. He said the change is meant to reassure parents who worry about student safety.

Champaign Unit 4 teachers also settled a new contract in 2025 with roughly five percent raises each year.
