Illinois Public Media News is monitoring rain and snow forecasted for Central Illinois on March 11-12. This post will be updated with information from the National Weather Service in Lincoln and Chambana Weather meteorologist Andrew Pritchard. Snow or a rain/snow mix is occurring in the red circled region, with minor accumulations expected (up to around an inch).

Winter Storm Warning For Central Illinois Sunday Night-Tuesday AM

CHAMPAIGN – The National Weather Service says Central Illinois could receive nearly a foot of snow and continue with subzero temperatures over the next 48 hours. The agency declared a Winter Storm Warning for Champaign, Christian, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Sangamon and Shelby Counties from Sunday at 6:00 p.m. until Tuesday
