ith President Joe Biden now out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris pursuing the party’s nomination, a dramatic role reversal for the two is likely to play out before a nationally televised audience when delegates gather in Chicago next month. Harris is banking on introducing her vice presidential pick to the country and standing at center stage.
Two days after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid and as the Democratic Party coalesces around Harris, she traveled to Milwaukee on Tuesday. She has raised more than $100 million since Sunday afternoon.
Democrats face the task of rearranging the top of their ticket before the party’s nominating convention begins Aug. 19.
Democrats are set to hold their convention in Chicago in August.
Biden won the vast majority of delegates and every nominating contest but one, which would’ve made his nomination mostly a formality. Now that he’s dropped out, those delegates will be free to support another candidate. What happens after that is unclear.
