CHICAGO — Services have been announced for Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson, who died Tuesday morning at the age of 84.
Jackson was a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient and a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, known for his decades of activism and political organizing. He is also credited with paving the way for many top Democrats in Illinois and around the country including Barack Obama and Kamala Harris.
Jackson’s family says he will lie in state at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
A celebration of life will be held at Chicago’s House of Hope Church on Friday, February 27.
A homegoing service will be held at Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters will be Saturday, February 28.
