CHAMPAIGN — The Fighting Illini softball team (17-20, 4-8) hosted Michigan State this weekend in a three-game series. Illinois won the series, winning two out of three games, and with a come-from-behind victory on Sunday.

Takeaways

MSU: The Spartans put themselves in a position to steal the weekend series away from the Illini. But after giving up a homerun in the final inning of Sunday’s game, all momentum was lost and setup the walk-off homerun by Illinois. The Spartans will look to bounce back at home as host Notre Dame on Tuesday at 6 P.M.

Illinois: Illinois continued to show composure through chaotic innings as they won another game in the final inning. Illinois dominated the first game, ending it in five innings. However, although they struggled on Saturday’s game, they were able to find a way to win on Sunday and head into the week with a win.
