Members of the 119th Congress are seeing hundreds of phone calls and protests in response to their votes on significant policy bills.
Though lawmakers are primarily voting along party lines, some Democrats have supported some of the Republican majority’s proposals.
Some Illinois House Democrats supported a bill to expand the authority of federal immigration authorities to detain people in the U.S. And one U.S. Senator from the state voted for a government appropriations package in March.
