Central Illinois could see high wind gusts, low temperatures, and possibly snow this holiday weekend.
Winter weather will arrive in Central Illinois over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend-first with a shot of arctic air and blustery winds, followed by a chance of some weekend snow, according to meteorologist Andrew Pritchard.
Cold air will arrive in Champaign Urbana overnight, with winds gusting to 40 miles per hour out of the Northwest- tonight into the day on Wednesday. After a high in the middle 50’s Tuesday, high temperatures will fall into the 20’s and 30’s, with overnight lows in the teens over the holiday weekend.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for central and southeast Illinois on Wednesday for west winds gusting between 40-50 mph. The greatest impact will be to high-profile vehicles traveling along north-south oriented highways (e.g. I-57, I-55 and I-35). #ILwx pic.twitter.com/RLoffSZ6nS

The cold air is likely to linger into the beginning of December. A potential snowstorm may hit during the weekend as well. Pritchard said it’s possible parts of Central Illinois could see several inches over the weekend into early next week.
The probability for impactful snow has increased for central Illinois into Saturday. There is still some uncertainty on if and where rain will mix with snow. This uncertainty lowers our confidence on snowfall amounts. Be sure to check back for updates. #ILwx pic.twitter.com/yy64jPtp1V
