URBANA — In 2025, the Urbana Fire Department responded to the highest number of incidents in six years.
The department responded to 6,679 incidents in 2025, according to a news release on Tuesday from the department.
That number is higher than the 6,447 incidents the department confronted in 2024 — and it exceeds the number of incidents the department has responded to each year since 2019.
More than half of last year’s responses were related to medical emergencies.
The fire department said in a statement it shares the data to show how its resources are being used while building trust and accountability with residents.
“By providing clear data on incident types — such as medical emergencies, fires, or other
responses — the department can demonstrate its priorities and areas of focus,” the statement said. “Additionally, this transparency allows residents and local leaders to identify trends and collaborate on strategies to address specific community needs.”
