UPDATE: In-person classes resume at Danville District 118, no ‘credible threat’ found by police

Police

The school district announced early Wednesday morning that all district buildings and schools would be closed for the day, so police could investigate the matter. Later that evening, in a letter to District 118 families, Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis said administrators were informed of a social media threat that was made towards North Ridge Middle School.

Geddis also said the person responsible for the threat has been identified and Danville Police
have indicated “there is no valid or credible threat present.”

The district will provide additional social and emotional support staff to help students and staff
with any additional concerns.

“We ask that you encourage your child to report anything they see or hear that could be a safety concern,” Geddis added. “Our number one priority is to ensure students and staff feel safe
and secure.”
