Extreme heat in Central and Southern Illinois will continue until Friday evening. The National Weather Service said conditions are dangerously hot, and that it could feel like 105 degrees. This means heat related illnesses are more likely. NWS recommends residents to:
-Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room
-Stay out of the sun
-Check up on relatives and neighbors
– Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
– Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke
– Never leave pets or children unattended in parked vehicles
Labor Day weekend will cool down a little bit with a slight dip into the 80’s. Showers are a possibility this afternoon, evening and Friday night into Saturday.
