73-year-old man reported missing found in Champaign: Police

URBANA — A man reported missing on Thursday was found Friday morning unharmed, according to Urbana Police. 

An individual who identified herself as the sister of Jimmy Joy, 73, told police she took her brother to Carle Hospital to seek cold and flu treatment and that he was left in the care of the medical staff there.

Joy has dementia, high blood pressure, and is partially blind and police said he left the hospital “against medical advice” around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Police were not notified of his disappearance until 8 p.m.

Joy was located in Champaign Friday at approximately 10:45 a.m. near 2nd and
Church Street and was reunited with his family, according to police.
